Jason Bieler (Guitarist)

In My Vinyl Offering, we get up close and personal with your favorite musicians and friends to find out the most cherished parts of their record, CD or tape collection. This time around we feature the vinyl collection of guitarist (Saigon Kick), hand model, songwriter, amateur surgeon, quipster, director of frivolity & music freak Jason Bieler.

The first record I ever bought with my own money was…

I remember it well…I walked into a record shop with my grandfather and saw the Kiss Destroyer record and without having any idea about what it sounded like, solely based on the cover I asked him for it and he bought it for me. Life changing.

The record that made me want to make music was…
I remember being in love with my parents 8 tracks, Meet The Beatles, Fifth Dimension, and on car trips hearing a ton of the Motown stuff on am radio…but I’d still have to point to Destroyer as the “I want to do this” moment.

The record I’ve played more than any other is…

Almost impossible to answer, I listen to soooo much music every day and have for as long as I can remember, so at any given point it could be anything from Barry Manilow to Gojira, Queen to Bjork, Tom Waits to Janes Addiction…gone through phases with tons of stuff being played to death.

The record that always make me feel good is…

Earth Wind & Fire – September or The Gypsy Kings – Baila Me

The record I turn to when I’m feeling down is…

One, I really don’t get down, I’m more of a “fuck off, get over yourself and get back at at” guy. Music is something that has been so amazingly positive in my life…so I don’t consciously look for music to soothe my emotional neediness…and if I have one it rarely lasts long enough to self DJ it.

The record with my favorite cover art is…

Have to go with Destroyer again…spent hours staring at that cover.

The strangest LP I own is…

I have always loved music, all types…to me there are two types of music, good and the other kind. * I stole that quote :-)

The rarest LP I own is…

Not sure, I’m not a collector in that way.

The last LP I bought was…

Devin Townsend’s Empath.
