Tom Jordan (20 Watt Tombstone)

In My Vinyl Offering, we get up close and personal with your favorite musicians and friends to find out the most cherished parts of their record, CD or tape collection. This time around we feature the vinyl collection of Tom Jordan from the Wausau, Wisconsin based band 20 Watt Tombstone.

The first record I ever bought with my own money was…

I believe the first record I ever owned was Taj Mahal, Natchl blues, or Johnny Winter – self titled.

The record that made me want to make music was…

Van Halen – 1984. Van Halen was instrumental in me wanting to play guitar. The “Hot for Teacher” music video was the coolest thing I had ever seen. Eddie playing on the tables and the way the video started out was awesome to me as a kid. Still Love it! It’s a classic.

The record I’ve played more than any other is…

Probably Prince – Purple Rain. Prince and Motorhead have been the bands for me that have always worked my whole life. Other bands come and go but those two have been constant in my life. I have memories throughout my childhood to adulthood linked to just about every album either artist did.

The record that always make me feel good is…

Lamb of God – Wrath. Not sure why, but it gets me pumped. Cleaning the house? Doing laundry? That record works!

The record I turn to when I’m feeling down is…

Probably Kyuss – Blues for the Red Sun.

The record with my favorite cover art is…

Kiss – Destroyer. Love that artwork.

The strangest LP I own is…

Hmmm. Don’t really have any.

The rarest LP I own is…

Don’t have much rarity in my collection. However, my son has a limited edition Thy Art is Murder picture disc of Holy War that has the art that was banned on the American release. That’s about the rarest thing in our household. Ha!

The last LP I bought was…

High on Fire – Electric Messiah
