Andre Roman (Pinto Graham)

Andre Roman - Pinto Graham

This time around we feature the collection of Andre Roman, guitarist and vocalist in the New Haven, Connecticut band Pinto Graham.

The first record I ever bought with my own money was…

Tough question. It could’ve been 2 …not at the same time though. It may have been “Skynyrds Inyrds” or it may have been Vol. 4 from Black Sabbath. I can’t remember. Ha ha.

The record that made me want to make music was…

Superfuzz/Bigmuff by Mudhoney. The completely out of control guitars mixed with Mark Arms ‘I don’t give a fuck’ attitude…it was the perfect record for my 13 year old brain. And an amazing gateway record that led me into a great direction in my record collecting.

The record I’ve played more than any other is…

Definitely The Red Album by Grand Funk Railroad. Just killer, straight up, booty shakin’ fuzzed out rock n roll!

The record that always make me feel good is…

Tarkus by Emerson Lake and Palmer. From the opening suspenseful buildup….I have a smile the entire first side of that record. That was my take a hit of acid and walk in the woods album. Ha ha ha.

The record I turn to when I’m feeling down is…

Junior Kimbrough “first recordings” no explanation!

The record with my favorite cover art is…

I have a lot of LP’s with Arik Roper’s artwork on them. I think he’s one of my favorite artists period. From “blessed black wings” by High On Fire to Sleep’s “Jerusalem” or “Dopesmoker” record or the Mammatus self titled record.

The strangest LP I own is…

I have the series of solo LPs the Melvins did that mimic the solo LPs that KISS did. All of them kick complete ass. Dale Crovers being my favorite of the 3. I guess it’s not really strange but it’s awesome and funny.

The rarest LP I own is…

I have a pretty rare “folk festival of the blues” LP. That has Howlin Wolf, Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy and Sonny Boy Williamson.

The last LP I bought was…

Radio Moscow “new beginnings”. Just a gnarly, high energy guitar record! I’ve been a fan of Parker Griggs for a long time. And this is the newest Radio Moscow LP (2017). It’s pure psych gold!
I also got the newest Earthless LP “Black Heaven” along with the Radio Moscow. If you get a chance to see Earthless live…man it changes you.

I'm a very tired, black coffee drinking curmudgeon who has been collecting records and cassettes for over forty years. I primarily listen to metal, 80s alternative and jazz. Torche and The Body are my favorite bands to collect.
