Ian Blurton (Musician/Record Producer)

In My Vinyl Offering, we get up close and personal with your favorite musicians and friends to find out the most cherished parts of their record, CD or tape collection. This time around we feature the vinyl collection of Canadian musician/record producer Ian Blurton.

The first record I ever bought with my own money was…

Full length: School’s Out/Alice Cooper

7″: Killer Queen/Queen

The record that made me want to make music was…

Every record I’ve ever heard except for the ones I didn’t like. I’d say Damned/Damned/Damned, Machine Gun Etiquette and The Black Album by The Damned continue to be a massive influence as they so distinctly different for each other and show a band progressing very far from their roots and not afraid of it.

The record I’ve played more than any other is…

That’s a tough one as I’m the type of listener that burns through multiple listens and then moves on. It would have to be School’s Out as I still come back to it and get obsessive for a couple of weeks. Sunburst Finish by BeBop Deluxe or Sabbath Bloody Sabbath would also get mentions as they’ve both been in my life forever.

The record that always make me feel good is…

T2 – It’ll All Work Out In Boomland

The record I turn to when I’m feeling down is…

Currently I’d say Black Tenere by Kel Assoue but in general something by Fela or Bon Scott era AC/DC always puts me in a great mood.

The record with my favorite cover art is…

I think I’m just going to have to go with all of Hawkwind’s 70s records.

The strangest LP I own is…

A Lot Of People Would Like To See Armand Schaubroeck…DEAD or either Caroliner in my collection.

The rarest LP I own is…

All 3 MC5 records signed by everyone except Fred Smith

The last LP I bought was…

Dr Feelgood Stupidity (Japan press). Been on a huge Vic Maile kick (producer of Motorhead/Girlschool/etc) and he did this one.
