Peter Scartabello (Musician/Composer)

Peter Scartabello

This time around we feature the collection of musician (Sky Shadow Obelisk)/composer (Bunnyman, The Bunnyman Massacre, Bunnyman Vengeance, et al.) and label owner (Yuggoth Records) Peter Scartabello.

The first record I ever bought with my own money was…
“Kiss – Destroyer. I’m not a huge Kiss fan now, but when I was eight this was the shit!”

The record that made me want to make music was…
“Iron Maiden – Piece of Mind. Love everything about this album! From the first drum fill of ‘Where Eagles Dare’ to the last haunting chords of ‘To Tame a Land’. Quite simply, Steve Harris is my spirit animal!”

The record I’ve played more than any other is…
“King Crimson – Red. I was late to the party, didn’t get into Crimson until college, but this album meant the world to me and sent me off into a whole new direction musically, but I have to say that this is probably tied with Mahavishnu Orchestra’s ‘Birds of Fire’.”

The record that always make me feel good is…
“Frank Zappa – Overnight Sensation. Something about the songs ‘Montana’ and ‘Camarillo Brillo’ that just make me smile no matter what. Really miss Frank!”

The record I turn to when I’m feeling down is…
“That’s a good question, I usually watch TV when I’m feeling down because music is too strong and overpowering for me when I’m depressed. But I guess if I’m just having an off day some Mercyful Fate, Maiden or Mahler’s 6th Symphony w/Karajan conducting.”

The record with my favorite cover art is…
“Iron Maiden – Powerslave”

The strangest LP I own is…
“The W.A.S.P. Blind in Texas picture disc!! Haha.”

I'm a very tired, black coffee drinking curmudgeon who has been collecting records and cassettes for over forty years. I primarily listen to metal, 80s alternative and jazz. Torche and The Body are my favorite bands to collect.
